Event Details: Past UK President Visited APB
Mr Derek Waddington and his wife, Margaret, visited Hong Kong during 9/2/2006 to 14/2/2006.


Derek was the President of CIH for the year 1986/1987. He is presently the Chairman of the Waterloo Housing Association, a housing organization based in West Midlands, U.K. Margaret is an elected Councillor of the Birmingham City, U.K. and the nominated Member of the Board of the Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB), They accompanied the BRB to Hong Kong. The latter conducted 5 spectacular ballet performances (Beauty and the Beast) in the Hong Kong Culture Centre.


Derek and Margaret are old friends of APB and frequent travellers to Hong Kong and China. This was the 5th time they visited Hong Kong. Their first visit took place in 1987 when Derek was on his Presidential Visit to Hong Kong Branch (now renamed Asian Pacific Branch). He also took part in the massive housing conference titled “Housing for People – The Way Ahead” organized by Hong Kong Branch in that year.


On 10/2/2006, on behalf of the Executive Committee of Asian Pacific Branch Mr. C. K. CHU, past APB Chairman for year 1986/1987 and current Hon. Secretary, Mr. Edmund CHUNG, paid a courtesy visit to Derek and Margaret in the hotel they stayed and accompanied them to a half day city tour.


As a gesture of our hospitality, the Branch Executive Committee further hosted a dinner reception for Derek and Margaret on 13/2/2006. They were joined by several ex-Executive Committee Members to renew acquaintance. There were free and warm conservation amongst all present and all had a pleasant evening.
