To enhance the professionalism of the housing practitioners in Macro, Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch, Vocational Training Council and Property Management Business Association jointly designed a programme, namely "Diploma in Property Management for Housing Practitioners" to advance their knowledge.

Since the inception of the programme in October 2006, 4 classes of students have successfully completed the course. Graduation ceremony of the fourth class took place on 7 August 2009 at the Housing Bureau, Ilha Verde, Macao. At 5:00 p.m., 39 graduates of the fourth class, together with previous graduates, who came over to share their joy, waited excitedly in the main hall of the Housing Bureau.

The ceremony commenced after the speeches of representatives of organizing and supporting organizations, including :

  • Dr. Chiang Coc Meng, President of the Housing Bureau, Macao
  • Ms Noemia Lameiras, Sub-director of the Labour Affairs Bureau, Macao
  • Professor Simpson Poon, Deputy Director of the Mainland Services Office, Vocational Training Council, Hong Kong
  • Mr. Alex Lao, Vice Chairman, Property Management Business Association, Macao
  • Mr. Chiu Pak Lung, Vice-chairman, Chartered Institute of Housing, Asian Pacific Branch.

Apart from congratulating the graduates completing the course after studying for 8 months, speakers expressed their sincerely wishes on graduates to continue contributing to the development and professionalism in Macao. Two certificates have been issued to each graduate in the ceremony; one from the Housing and Labour Affairs Bureau, and the other from the Institute of Vocational Education, Morrison Hill, Hong Kong. Graduates received their certificates among cheers, and took photos with the guests of honour thereafter.

Currently, around 160 housing practitioners in Macro have completed the said programme. As the programme had been accredited by CIH, graduates are eligible to apply for the Practitioner Grade Member of CIH upon completion of the Practical Experience Requirement, which is tailor-made to suit the local environment of Macro.
