Event Details: The Use of Technology: Opportunities and Challenges in Housing and Property Management

The CIHAPB, in collaboration with the Department of Public and International Affairs' Urban Research Lab at City University of Hong Kong, organized a seminar titled "The Use of Technology: Opportunities and Challenges in Housing and Property Management" The seminar included representatives from the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies, the Hong Kong Housing Society, and the Hong Kong Institute of Housing. Five guest speakers were invited to share their insights on innovative approaches in property management. The guest speakers and their topics were as follows:


1. Professor Johnnie Chan shared insights on "The Application and Innovation of Technology in Public Housing Construction and Management."


2. Mr. Darron Sun presented "The Digital Transformation of Property Management."


3. Dr. Dou Qiang discussed "Digital Applications in Building Construction and Management - An Introduction to the Integration of Operation and Maintenance Systems."


4. Dr. Simon Law shared his expertise on "The Journey of Facility and Property Management Innovations."


5. Dr. Wen Bo elaborated on "From Experimental Replication to Augmented Reality: The Application of Soft Technologies in Social Science Research."


Representatives from the organizing institutions delivered welcome speeches, inviting the distinguished speakers and attendees to share their professional opinions. Mr. Romulus Wong, Chairman of CIHAPB, expressed his honor in co-organizing the seminar with City University of Hong Kong and the aforementioned institutions. He emphasized the importance of exploring the rapidly evolving application of technology in housing and property management and understanding the opportunities and challenges it presents. Examples mentioned included the significant role played by AI-powered devices and emerging applications like Chat GPT in hardware and software for property management. Additionally, recent government policies regarding foreign labor supply have had a ripple effect, impacting the manpower shortage in the property management industry. Mr. Wong expressed hope that City University would continue nurturing talent to provide fresh perspectives to the market. CIHAPB firmly believed that through continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration with academia and industry, the property management industry could effectively address challenges and embrace future opportunities.


During the panel discussion following the seminar, attending members actively engaged with the guest speakers by posing their own questions and sharing their viewpoints.
