Event Details: Visit to the Property Management Business Association Macao

A delegation of ten members from the Executive Committee of the Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch (CIHAPB) visited Macao to meet with the Property Management Business Association Macao and its affiliated association, the Macau Real Estate Management Professional Technicians Association (Two Associations). They held an exchange meeting with Mr. Paul Tse, President of the Property Management Business Association Macao, and Ms. Chao Kuan I, President of the Macau Real Estate Management Professional Technicians Association, along with eight members of the supervisory board of Two Associations.

Chairman Mr. Romulus Wong of CIHAPB stated that this visit marked the first exchange after the pandemic, with the aim of engaging in in-depth discussions and sharing experiences and insights with Two Associations. The Two Associations recognized that through communication, they can enhance the professional level of property management, assist the Macau government in implementing management of multi-storey buildings, and accelerate the integration of the industry into the Greater Bay Area.

During the meeting, participants first discussed the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the property management industry, particularly the issue of manpower shortage. They explored the importance of importing foreign labor to the industry. The pandemic has accelerated the digitalization and intelligent transformation of the property management industry. For example, the introduction of online payment and repair systems, as well as AI-powered tools, has reduced interpersonal contact, improved efficiency, and convenience. Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased public awareness of the property management industry, presenting challenges while also driving industry transformation and innovation.

Mr. Paul Tse, who is also the founding President and Macao Regional President of the Guangdong Property and Facilities Management Association of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), highlighted the significant role of the GBA in promoting personnel training and urged professionals from the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau regions to seize the opportunity to integrate into the development of the Greater Bay Area. The Two Associations expressed that training for property management practitioners in Macao, including foreign workers, is urgently needed, and they hope that CIHAPB can provide more training opportunities, especially in the field of greening and horticulture.

Through mutual learning and exchange, the participants gained valuable insights and expressed the desire for CIHAPB and both Associations to maintain ongoing communication and jointly promote the development of the property management industry.
