Dear CIH,
Implementation of Long-term Plan for Aged Lifts
I am writing to invite your members to attend the briefing for implementation of long-term plan for aged lift safety in Hong Kong. In 2018, two serious lift accidents prompted the government to propose short-term and mid-term measures for enhancing the safety of aged lifts, including special maintenance, increasing inspection frequency, and introducing the "Lift Modernisation Subsidy Scheme" to support building owners. For the long-term measure, the implementation of risk assessments for aged lifts are proposed, aiming to evaluate risks and incorporate with the recommendations based on the assessment results, in order to further enhance the safety of aged lifts.
As an aged lift owners / management office / responsible person, contribution on aged lift management would be invaluable and essential for us to further develop the long-term for aged lift. In this regards, please kindly advice the available time slots in Oct 2025/Nov 2025/Dec 2025 and the venue to discuss the above matters.
