The Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (HKIFM) in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong and funded by the HK SAR Government has organized a function named "Sustainable Development in Japan and China – A Twin Countries´ Adventure". The first part of the Function was the technical visits to Tokyo and Yokohama held on March 21-24, 2007. The theme of this Technical Visit is "Sustainability & Energy Conservation In Tokyo and Yokohama". Upon the invitation of the HKIFM, a member of the Executive Committee of the Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch (CIHAPB), Mr. Raymond Sham has joined the Visits.

The captioned brain storming session was held on 17 March 2007 at Paradise Hill Hotel in Zhuhai, China. At the brain storming session, the new Branch Executive Committee for 2007/08, led by new Chairman Mr. Victor Chow, reviewed the existing strategies for the development of the Branch in the Asia Pacific region and embraced in the midst of the opportunities and threats faced by the Branch in the past few years. A new set of strategies was embarked and goals were set to target membership drive and to enhance professional practices. Future development of the Branch will still be focused in the Asian Pacific regions such as Taiwan, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and China. The Branch will aim to foster stronger ties with counterparts and government officials within these areas to promote professionalism of housing management. Better services will be provided to members to keep them abreast of the present development in housing management, to uphold the code of professional conduct and to prospect their career in future.

To strengthen closer ties with our counterparts in Macao, a visit was paid to the Property Management Business Association Macao on 16 March 2007. Mr. Victor Chow led a delegation of 19 Executive Committee members to meet with Mr. Ho Tung Ming, Honorary Chairman and other prominent dignitaries of the Association. This was the first time for the new Executive Committee for 2007/09 to meet with our counterparts in Macao. Discussion on topical housing management issues and professionalism development in both Hong Kong and Macao were deliberated at the meeting.

Mr. Victor Chow, led the new Branch Executive Committee for 2007/09, to visit the Macao Housing Bureau on 16 March 2007. The delegation was graced by the presence of Dr. Chaing Coc-meng, Director of Macao Housing Bureau and other senior officials of the Bureau. At the meeting, views on the property management development and the rampant business environment faced by the Macao housing practitioners were exchanged and shared among the housing professionals from Hong Kong and Macau. The two entities planned to meet again in the near future. Dr. Chiang was very pleased to meet with the new Executive Committee and wished the Branch to continue to flourish in future.

As part of their study trip to Hong Kong, a delegation of 11 key real estate developers from the Selangor Branch of the Malaysia Real Estate and Housing Developers Association paid an official visit to APB on March 15, 2007. They were met by the Branch Chairman and other key office bearers and EC members in the joint office.

An experience sharing meeting with the visitors was held. At the meeting, there were free flow exchange of views on the importance of professional housing management in maintaining the value of the properties; the building of a healthy and sustainable community and the role play by CIH in up-keeping professionalism in housing management.

Invitation was extended by REHDA to APB to visit Malaysia and REHDA later this year.

The 2006 Annual General Meeting was held in World Trade Centre Club on 1 February 07 evening. The Annual General Meeting was well attended by 24 members in person and 71 members in proxy. The meeting confirmed the minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 12 January 06 and received the Chairman’s Report and Financial Statement of the Hon. Treasurer. The meeting also passed a resolution to thank the Past Chairman, Mr Ricky Yuen for his remarkable contribution to the CIHAPB during his term of services.

All the nominees for officer posts of the Executive Committee were automatically elected because of single nomination. For the Executive Committee members, members were required to elect 5 out of 6 nominees by ballot. As the number of candidates for Executive Committee members had exceeded the vacancies, a ballot was cast and the results were as follows:

A delegation of 17 representatives from the TIPM led by the President, Huang Nan-yuen and Secretary General Huang Shyh-meng visited PPSA on 22 January 2007. They were greeted by representatives from the four Institutes at the Joint Office and had a very fruitful discussion on the various practices of property management and building maintenance in Hong Kong and Macau. After the morning meeting, the delegates were shown to Two IFC and APM Shopping Mall, two typical samples of successful and well managed properties. In the same evening, the PPSA hosted a welcoming dinner to the study group.

The Hong Kong Real Estate Service and City Development Expo organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council was held on 7 and 8 December 2006 in Hangzhou, China. It aimed to promote the real estate services provided by Hong Kong-based businesses to the community in China and facilitate business matching in this aspect. Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch was proudly presented by Hong Kong Trade Development Council as one of the co-organisers at the event. The exhibition, kicked off by the Guest of Honor Mr. He Rongkuan Deputy General Secretary of Hangzhou Municipal Government, was attended by 2,000 participants.
