Qualification Framework Symposium – Professional Qualification and Accreditation
26 August 2006
Subsequent to the first symposium on 25/2/06, the Council of Hong Kong Professional Associations (COPA) organized a second symposium of theme on “Professional Qualification and Accreditation” on 26/8/06. All participating professionals and academic generally though that Qualifications Framework was a policy of having prolonged impacts on all trade industries and their related qualifications. The accreditation would take cautious approach to setting up all qualification standards for all industries. There is a great room for discussion and exchange of view between the Government and all stakeholders.

2006 Mainland and Hong Kong Conference
"Urban Infrastructure Development and Construction Market Regulation"
10-13 September 2006
In early September, The Ministry of Construction, P. R. China and The Environment, Transport and Works Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government jointly organized a conference on "Urban Infrastructure Development and Construction Market Regulation" in Urumqi on 10-13 September 2006. The conference aims to promote the exchange of construction technology and expertise, and enhance the co-operation between the construction industry of the Mainland and Hong Kong. Upon the invitation of the Bureau, two representatives of the branch attended the conference. 19 co-organizers and associate organizers from Mainland China and Hong Kong participated in the conference. 150 delegates from Hong Kong attended the event and most of them were senior executives of the construction, engineering, management and real estate sectors. The topics of discussion focused on three main areas, namely "Impact of Urban Infrastructure Development on Urban Planning", "Development and Regulation of the Construction Market" and "Construction of Urban Infrastructure and Safety Management". Delegates actively participated in the discussion, shared their experience and made many valuable suggestions to the senior Mainland officials and their counterparts.

Taiwan「公部門物業委外經營管理研究」Study Group Visit to Hong Kong
4-7 September 2006
The Economic Construction Committee of the Ministry of Administration of the Taiwan Government (台灣政府行政院經濟建設委員會) has commissioned a delegation of 7 senior academic from the Taiwan Hua Hsa Institute of Technology to conduct a research study on “Privatisation of Building Management Function of Taiwan Public Housing and Properties”to Hong Kong on 4-7/9/06. The Asian Pacific Branch had made necessary arrangement for official visits to public and private housing management organizations in Hong Kong.

The Executive Committee of Asian Pacific Branch hosted a dinner for the visitors on 4/9/06 and shared with the guests the problems and challenges arising from privatization of housing management and the recent trend of property management in Hong Kong.
